The handover of the ethnographic house and outbuilding in Domanjševci

On the 9th of November, on the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Hungarian National Self-Governing Community in the municipality of Šalovci, a celebratory handover of the ethnographic house and outbuilding took place.

At the event, there were several keynote speakers: Dušan Orban, President of the Council of the Hungarian National Self-Governing Community of the Municipality of Šalovci; Marko Drofenik, Director General of the Directorate General for Ministry of Economic Relations and Development; Ferenc Horváth, President of the Hungarian Self-Governing National Community, Member of Parliament, representing the Hungarian National Community; Iztok Fartek, Mayor of the Municipality of Šalovci, and Dr. Jakab Ferkov, museologist, ethnologist. The ceremonial event included a rich cultural programme: the youngest of Domanjševci; the folklore group Kulturno društvo József Atilla from Motvarjevci; Új Muravidék Citeraegyüttes zithers; the choir of the bilingual elementary school from Prosenjakovci; folk singers of the cultural-tourist society Őrség and folk singers of the cultural society Petőfi Sándor from Domanjševci.

Visitors can stroll through the main building and the outbuilding and see the former distillery, learn the tricks of the cleaning and drying of pumpkin seeds, how to bake bread the old way and the secrets of knitting 'ceker' (bags), as well as the tricks of shoemakers and carpenters.
