The Patron Saint’s Day of St. Vitus

In the municipality of Dobrovnik, June is the month marked by the traditional event named Days of Tourism, which starts with the Hike of St. Vitus. The most important events take place around St. Vitus’ Day and they also include several sporting events.

The main event takes place on St. Vitus’ Day at Lake Bukovnica. On this day, many pilgrims still attend Holy Mass and usually also take a stroll to the Spring of St. Vitus where they wash their eyes with its water. According to popular belief, the water from the spring has magical powers. On this day, they can also take a look at the craft fair, try delicious Prekmurian food and, in the evening, they can relax to the sounds of music or dance.

Tourists, however, do not visit Lake Bukovnica just on St. Vitus’ Day. It is widely-known that Mother Nature rewarded the vicinity of the lake not only with healing spring water but also with energy spots which have a calming effect on visitors and help ease their everyday stress.
