St. Catherine’s Fair

In Lendava and its surrounding area, the name day of St. Catherine (25th of November), has always been an important holiday, for it is the Memorial Day of St. Catherine of Alexandria, the patron saint of the parish church of Lendava.

On that day, around the Church of St. Catherine of Alexandria, the Catherine’s Fair, a several decades old tradition, takes place where one can buy delicious food prepared by local producers and different handicraft products by potters, local linen producers as well as honey-bread producers. Visitors can also buy advent wreaths and table and Christmas tree decorations for the upcoming Christmas. After visiting the fair and shopping, a warm refreshment might be in order. The fair offers a wide variety of street food and drinks: mulled wine, fried sausages and blood pudding, lángos (deep fried flatbread with different toppings) and sweet chimney cake.
