Rétesnap 7Retaši, or the filo pastry dish commonly known as strudel, has a rich tradition in Prekmurje, as it is considered the compulsory dessert after various feasts.

This led to the idea that this tradition should be preserved and, in Čentiba, they decided to do so. The second all-day culinary event, ‘Pomurski dan retašev’ or ‘Pomurje Strudel Day’, took place on the 25th of May.

What did the organisers have to offer to participants and visitors? They held a competition in retaš making, open to individuals, societies, professionals and amateurs, and filled Čentiba with the delicious and sweet scents of freshly baked retaš. This year, aside from the best retaš, they also held a competition for the prettiest apron.

In front of the village hall, there was an all-day cultural program and entertainment, consisting of the zither band Új Muravidék; the folk dancers from the Croatian Cultural Society of Lendava; singers from Gaberje, Gaberski mantraši; the dance group Romano Jilo; and folk singers from Čentiba. The star of the day was Feke Pál, the famous Hungarian singer and, in the evening, visitors were entertained by the band Zlata Žila.
