Day in the Heritage House Prekmurje

The Hungarian Heritage House in Budapest was founded in 2001 with the purpose of exploring and presenting the folk traditions of the Carpathian basin.

In December 2018, in Heritage House, many events were held that brought forth the Christmas spirit. Throughout the whole day there were events and the smallest Hungarian minority community, the one from Prekmurje, presented itself in one of them.  At “Prekmurje Day”, their folk music, the House of dance, and an exhibition of their folk-art were showcased, along with handicraft workshops. Visitors were invited to try delicacies from the rich gastronomical heritage of Prekmurje. The day was concluded with an evening program, in which the various amateur groups were able to display their talents: the folklore group of the József Attila Motvarjevci Cultural Society, Dobronaki Nótázók; the zither group Pünkösdi Rózsa, from Dolina; folk singer Júlia Bacsi; and folk singers from the Petőfi Sándor Cultural Society.
