218th Anniversary of the Birth of Ferenc Deák
On October 17th, 2021, we celebrate the 218th anniversary of the birth of Ferenc Deák, one of the most important personalities of Hungarian history in the 19th century.
The life of the Hungarian academician and statesman is also connected with a small village named Žitkovci near Dobrovnik. Deák was born in the village of Söjtör in Hungary but his family originated from Žitkovci. Due to this fact, a memorial plate was unveiled at the village hall and fire station. In the same building, a room dedicated to Deak´s memory was created in which Ferenc Deák´s life and the history of the settlement are presented.
