The Evangelical Church

The interior decoration of the church, which is located in the town centre, is elegantly minimalistic. The altarpiece of the church, which is the artwork of Lajči Pandur, the renowned painter who was born in Dolnja Lendava, is outstanding.

The Building of the Current Library in Lendava

The library building that was designed in an eclectic architectural style stands opposite the Evangelical Church and bears a rich history. It used to be the villa of the king’s notary, Dr. Oszkár Laubhaimer. In its interior, both the plaster stuccoes depicting mythological scenes and the rich decoration of the ceiling are outstanding sights to behold.

Synagogue

The building of the Lendava Synagogue is considered an important architectural monument of the local Jewish community. In the synagogue, there are two permanent exhibitions on display, one of them is about the Jews of Lendava and Prekmurje and the other is a collection of graphics named “Scrolls of Fire” by the Israeli graphic artist Dan Reisinger.

The Statue of György Kultsár

In 1573, a printing office was established in Dolnja Lendava. It was the birthplace of several famous publications, among others, a collection of parables by György Kultsár, a Lutheran preacher. This book is today considered as the first book printed in the territory of contemporary Slovenia. A memorial in honour of the Lutheran preacher was erected, a bronze statue of the book.

Lendava has a colourful and rich past. Consequently, one of the former bourgeoisie houses on the town´s Glavna ulica was turned into a permanent exhibition that depicts the history of the bourgeoisie, printing, umbrella manufacture and the apothecary of Dolnja Lendava.

The Parish Church of Saint Catherine of Alexandria

The spiritual centre of Lendava’s Roman Catholic residents got its present form in 1751. In the church square three statues are on display: a statue of St. Florian; a statue of St. Stephen, in honour of the millennium of the founding of the Hungarian state; and a statue of Anton Martin Slomšek, the former bishop of Maribor.

The Castle and the Gallery-Museum of Lendava

On the hill above the town stands the castle, which has played a significant role throughout the history of the area. Since 1973, the castle has been home to the Gallery-Museum of Lendava where, apart from the permanent exhibitions displaying the area´s historically significant exhibits, relics, characteristics, and traditions, one can also see various temporary exhibitions.
