Bogračfest

Lendava´s main street burst with life again as the long-awaited Bogračfest took place, Slovenia´s biggest bograč cooking event. In adherence to protective measures against COVID-19, the previous year´s event could only take place with certain limitations, but this year´s bograč cook-off, as part of the Vinarium Festival, could shine again in its original light. Around the cooking stands, a hustle and bustle was already visible in the morning. In the cauldrons, the dishes started to cook and soon delightful scents started to fill the main street. The weather played along too, therefore, the atmosphere at the cooking stands was amazing. More than sixty teams participated; teams made up of friends, families, societies, institutions and clubs armed themselves with wooden spoons and entered the competition to win the title of ´The Master of Bograč Cooking´. The six-member expert panel faced a difficult assignment in tasting the dishes since all of the teams showed their best skills. The award-winning bograč was prepared by the team of the company Filc from Lendava, second best was the team of Eko-Park Lendava, while the third-best award was bestowed upon the team of the Thermal Resort Lendava. A special award was also rewarded to the most festively adorned competitors’ pitch. This year the team of the Institute for Culture of the Hungarian National Community (ZKMN) became the proud winner of the most festive pitch. Apart from Bograč, visitors could also taste delicious fish from Hotiza and eat lángos. In the city park, a wide range of programmes for children was available. Throughout the day, visitors were entertained by the band Halicanum and in the evening, by the singer Tanja Žagar.
